Patrick Smith yesterday appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer two counts of armed robbery.It is alleged that Smith while being in the company of others on June 26 in Georgetown,Dale Weise Canadiens Jersey, armed with a gun,Jason Garrison Lightning Jersey, robbed Gunraj Brijlall of items and cash amounting to $775,Dominic Moore Rangers Jersey,000.It is also alleged that on the same day in question while being in the company of others,Pascal Dupuis Penguins Jersey, and armed with a gun,Derick Brassard Rangers Jersey, robbed Carlotta Brijlall of one gold chain and other items valued at $475,Dennis Maruk Capitals Jersey,000.The man pleaded guilty with explanation to both charge when it was read to him by the Magistrate.He told the court that his reason for pleading guilty was because he works in the interior and he does not have anyone to post bail for him. “I never do that,Bryan Trottier Penguins Jersey, I was working all the time in the bush.”The magistrate after hearing his explanation told the defendant that it is not a reason to plead guilty,Patrick Roy Canadiens Jersey, so a not guilty plea was entered.Police Prosecutor Simone Payne objected to bail citing to the seriousness of the offense and told the court that CCTV footage shows that the defendant was the individual who carried out the robbery.Smith told the court,Ryan Callahan Lightning Jersey, “I came out from the bush from working and all of a sudden them police pick me up and say I look like the man that robbed them people, me ain’t even know them people .’’Smith stated that the CCTV footage only showed the man’s eyes and nose since the man was wearing a scarf at the time.The father of seven was remanded and will make his next court appearance on November 18. |
