The stipulated pay date for municipal workers is the 25th day of any given month.According to the Public Relations Officer, the municipality,Jonathan Toews Jersey, as at the end of last week,Kevin Shattenkirk Jersey, was able to pay every category of worker their wages and salaries. He noted, too,John Gibson Team North America Jersey, that as at the end of last year “we were able to bring to zero all of the properties and installations that council owed the power company.Meanwhile, the municipality remains unable to fulfil payment of an approved 10 percent increase to workers’ remuneration package which should have been reflected in their wages and salaries for May.According to Acting Town Clerk, Yonette Pluck-Cort, the municipality has since been in receipt of a letter from the Guyana Labour Union (GLU) in this regard. However, the Acting Town Clerk noted that she has had to ink a letter in response,Martin Brodeur Jersey, informing the GLU that the payments will not be possible at this time. The GLU as well as the Guyana Local Government Officers Union (GLGOU) were duly informed of the delay in payment and have so far been supportive, according to King. |
