(GWI) will be working closely with farmers for some wells and the attention will be on storage of farine and other cassava products to guarantee a stable food supply.Also present at the event was George Jervis, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Admin), Ministry of Agriculture.Regions One, Seven and Eight are to also receive assistance and currently materials are being procured.Farmers across Guyana are hard hit by the dry conditions brought on by the El Nino conditions with extra costs being borne to pump water.While prices on local produce are not too much up, exports are likely to experience a rapid change as supplies dwindle in the face of the drought. And the weather may continue, according to predictions. |
