Yesterday was an historic day in the mining town of Linden. After an absence of local Government elections for 23 years,Ed Reed Miami Jersey, a 38-year-old former journalist and businessman, Carwyn Holland, was elected Mayor, in the Linden Mayor and town Council Conference Hall.His deputy is Wanika Arrindel, a school teacher.Linden’s new Mayor Carwyn Holland,John Wall Kentucky Jersey, with Deputy Mayor Wanika ArrindelBoth Holland and Arrindel received unanimous support from the other elected councilors.The Councilors are Colin Anderson, Nikieza Noel, Devin Sears, Keron Williams,Le Veon Bell Michigan State Jersey, Loma Moseley, Lennox Gasper,Kentucky Wildcats Jerseys, Neola Rogers, Wainwright Bethune, Fern McCoy, Deron John, Elize Benjamin, Derrick Collins,Dwyane Wade Marquette Jersey, Rawle Friday and Leroy James.Holland, in his inaugural speech,De Aaron Fox Kentucky Jersey, thanked his supporters, his family and President David Granger and the Government,Charles Woodson Michigan Jersey, for returning local democracy and self-determination, to the people of Guyana, and the people of Linden in particular.He also applauded the outgoing Interim Management Committee Chairman, Orrin Gordon and his team, for their resilience and fortitude in working in an environment where the previous administration was not always supportive.“I am the first Linden-born and bred (Mayor), a son of the soil, a servant-leader, humbled to be elected the tenth mayor of this great town!”Holland said that the government had kept its campaign promise to hold local government elections after 22 years of democratic denial.“This is liberating day, for our people, the spread of local democracy to communities like Linden is the expansion of freedom and democracy in all of Guyana.It has provided Linden with functional autonomy to plan and pursue its own unique path of development.This will be done in collaboration with strategic stakeholders, including central government, the Regional Democratic Council, the business community,Teddy Bridgewater Louisville Jersey, foreign investors and most importantly the people of Linden.”Holland said that for development to happen residents must “buy in’ to the idea.
