The Essequibo Islands Secondary School on Wakenaam Island is now better equipped for the Information Technology Programme. Business entity NT Computeac has totally refurbished the electrical and other wiring systems along with the back-up power for the computer class valued at over three-quarters of a million Guyana dollars. The firm also donated four new computer systems along with back-up power.Proprietor of NT Computeac,Washington Nationals Joe Blanton Jersey, Mr. Charles Sweathnam who along with his wife are former residents of Wakenaam Island,Atlanta Braves Matt Kemp Jersey, told Kaieteur News that their objective was to give back something to the island. As a result,Dexter Fowler Jersey, he,Trevor Cahill Jersey, his wife and staff travelled to the school on Saturday last and began to establish a brand new system for the school.  They worked through Saturday night and for the greater part of Sunday.Formerly the school could not employ the use of a portable generator to power-up the computers.  With the new systems in place,Arizona Diamondbacks Gregor Blanco Jersey, the school can now hold computer classes during the week using that generator. The island does not receive power between 8 and 4 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays.A new throwover switch has been connected to surge protectors. New distribution cables have been placed and network cables have been installed to a new distribution unit. The school now has a total of 13 computers. This allows significantly more students to use the facility and it is expected that an increased number of students will be prepared for the CSEC Exams.IT Teacher Mr. Asif Ahmad received the four computers on behalf of the school.Mr. Sweathnam promised that his firm would present a trophy for the top IT student at CSEC next year.Headmaster of the school Mr. Jaidat Persaud thanked Mr. and Mrs. Sweathnam and their staff for the timely assistance.
