The project commenced in November of last year and has seen the contractor completing stations situated at the junctions of Parade and Barrack Streets, New Garden and Laluni Streets,Carnell Lake Steelers Jersey, Main and Quamina Streets, Haley and Hadfield Streets,Eric Rowe Patriots Jersey, Winter Place and Hadfield Street, Louisa Row and Princes Street and at High and Princes Streets.Currently works are ongoing on four more pumping stations situated at Main and New Market Streets,Jack Butler Steelers Jersey, Light and Second Streets, Camp and Quamina Streets and at Cooper and Sussex Streets. However, it is understandable that the roads have not been completed as the contractor has to wait until the concrete surface is cured first, Gokool noted. And even as the works progress at strategic points around the city, Gokool reiterated the need for residents and motorists to bear-up with the disruptions that are occurring around the city. In order to carry out his work in an efficient and effective way, Gokool highlighted that the contractor would require that some routes in the city be closed, a development which has been inconveniencing some motorists. In addition, he said that the use of drills and other high powered equipment may still be considered a noise nuisance to some residents. The project titled ‘Georgetown Water Supply and Sewerage Programme II, Rehabilitation of Sewerage pumps’, is being undertaken by the government with the support of a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank valued at $170.6M. Based on the details of the contract (LO 1047/SF-GY) the project should be completed in its entirety within a seven-month period. The scope of the project, the Project Engineer has revealed,L.C.
