Mark Mangal was yesterday remanded to prison by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.On October 8, Mangal allegedly broke and entered the dwelling place of Roopnauth and stole a quantity of household items, valuing $147,500. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.Police Prosecutor Denise Griffith said that bail should be denied because Mangal has committed other similar offences.She also noted that he was seen “coming out” of the window of Roopnauth’s house. Bail was denied and he is expected to make his next court appearance on October 27.Mangal was also slapped with another charge when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive- Hamilton, yesterday,wholesale jerseys china, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.He allegedly had in his possession a utensil which is used to smoke cocaine. He also pleaded not guilty to that charge and was placed on $35,000 bail.He is expected to make his next court appearance on January 14, 2009.And Neil Tobin, 20, of 58 William Street, Agricola, and Wayne Clarke, were allegedly engaged in a heated fracas, on September 23, in Georgetown.This came to light before Magistrate Robertson.Tobin was charged with unlawfully and maliciously wounding Wayne Clarke. He pleaded not guilty. Wayne Clarke, who is charged with assaulting Neil Tobin, pleaded guilty to the charge.He told the court that he went to purchase water where Tobin works and he parked his bike. He said that Tobin told him to remove the bike but he refused, choosing instead “to full (fill) his water” regardless of what Tobin said.He added that he was about to come out of the compound when he and Tobin had an exchange of words and he first “punched” Tobin. The man said that after he punched Tobin there was a “scuffle”. Tobin told the court that he was acting in self defence and that he was doing his job, when Clarke disturbed him. He was placed on $15,000 bail while Clarke was fined $10,000. The matter continues on November 5.And 34-year-old Osmond McLeod, of 175 ‘A’ Field, Sophia, was yesterday granted $20,000 bail by the Acting Chief Magistrate. He allegedly stole one “Bird” phone worth some $25,000 from Errol Mingo, on October 12. Police Prosecutor Denise Griffith said that the phone was never recovered but she did not object to bail.In his defence, McLeod said that Mingo approached him with a knife and proceeded to assault him.He further told the court that the man took him to the police station although he did not steal anything. He is expected to return to court on November 5. |
