…absent doctor stalls trial The High Court trial of murder accused, Nazrudeen Jahoot,Serge Savard Canadiens Jersey, called “Buddy” of Cotton Tree,Jarred Tinordi Canadiens Jersey, West Coast Berbice, who is indicted for the murder of  Ramlall Mangal called “Ochro” and “Dereck” also of Cotton Tree, is continuing in the Berbice High Court before Justice Brassington Reynolds and a mixed jury.Jahoot is accused of killing the man on August 25,Derek Stepan Rangers Jersey, 2008 at Cotton Tree,Gustav Nyquist Red Wings Jersey, West Coast Berbice.When the matter resumed on Tuesday, Attorney at Law Charrandass Persaud began his cross examination of key prosecution witness Detective Inspector Kadarnauth Bejaimal.The detective had testified that he had taken the caution statement from the accused. He detailed for the court the process under which he obtained the caution statement from the accused. The officer was grilled extensively by Persaud on the role he played during the investigation. He was also questioned about the signature of the accused on the said statement.Next on the witness stand was Detective Assistant Superintendent Trevor Reid who told the court that he is the officer in charge of major crimes in Guyana.He also gave a detailed description of the part he played in the investigation including witnessing the taking of the caution statement from the accused. He was also quizzed extensively by Attorney at law Persaud on the part he played in the investigation,Eric Fehr Penguins Jersey, the caution statement and the signature of the accused on the said statement.Mangal was allegedly stabbed to death around midday on the day in question, during a fight with the accused. He allegedly bled to death while sitting on a bench in front of his home.  The accused, who was 18 years old at the time of the crime, fled to Lethem and was cohabiting with the victim’s daughter when he was arrested. He gave a statement telling the officers how he killed “Ochro.”A number of witnesses have already testified, including the wife of the deceased,Vincent Lecavalier Lightning Jersey, Ivorene Dukhia who testified that her daughter disappeared from home on December 28, 2008 and did not return.This, the woman had said forced her to place a missing person’s report and picture in the newspaper. The woman had stated that the next time she saw her daughter was on January 2, 2010 at CID Headquarters in Georgetown. She had also said that she was aware that her daughter had left home to go and live with the accused.Also testifying already were  Ramdeo Sookra, a nephew of the deceased,  police Detectives Sergeant Gilbert Ross,Rick Nash Rangers Jersey, Corporals Michael Peters,Gordie Howe Red Wings Jersey, Juke Jacques,Justin Williams Capitals Jersey, woman Detective corporal Daniel Blair, Detective Constable Mark Fraser , and Constable Devon Semple who all gave evidence and highlighted the parts they played in the investigation.The trial is expected to continue until next Tuesday after Prosecutor, Prithina Kissoon, told the court that the Pathologist will not be available until next week.
