The family is also accusing the former Geology and Mines Commissioner of attempting to take over property said to be in their family for generations.Walrond said that he has taken note of the claims made in the media by the Majors, Robertses, Danielses, Fieldses, the Draytons and the Sattaur siblings, and has detached himself from the accusations.Walrond, who conducts sand mining operations, told this newspaper that the disputed land matter involving the siblings and himself is before the court, after several discrepancies were reportedly discovered in the documents presented by the family as their means of rights and ownership.The West Bank Demerara siblings said during a protest at the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) early last year that they inherited some 800 acres of land from their parents who previously owned the property at 13 to 16 Vreed-en-Rust, West Bank Demerara (WBD).The family had blamed the GGMC for allegedly giving Waldron permission to mine on their property.Walrond has insisted that he legitimately acquired his mining space from the GGMC following the necessary procedure. It was explained that the application process for the said property started in the early nineties.Kaieteur News was told that there were two plans relating to the area where the land is located; the Bhagroo plan and the Ramnauth plan.
