A 35-year-old broker was yesterday charged with the possession of narcotics (250 grams of cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking. When the charge was read to Stefan Harry of North East La Penitence,Jerseys NFL China, by Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, he pleaded not guilty.Court documents revealed that on June 26, ranking officers from the Narcotics Branch at Eve Leary, acting on sensitive information carried out a search at the defendant’s home. Officers then allegedly discovered a substance which they suspected to be cocaine. The substance was then taken to the station where it was weighed and the father of three was arrested and charged for the said offence. The Prosecution then objected to bail on the grounds that if he is granted bail he may not return for his trial and the seriousness of the offense and quantity involved must also be taken into consideration.Attorney at Law, Ms. Latchmie Rahamat attempted to submit special reasons for her client to be granted bail. The lawyer stated that Harry and his wife were not the only persons in the house at the time, indicating to the court that there are many other occupants of the home. She added that her client and his wife were sleeping, when they were awakened by the officers who told them that they found the cocaine in their toilet.Harry was subsequently granted bail to the tune of $250,000. The matter is slated to be called on July 10. |
