As a standoff between the management of Aroaima and Kwakwani bauxite mining sites and the workers’ union enters yet another week without resolution, the Guyana Bauxite and General Workers’ Union (GB&GWU) has indicated that it has made a formal complaint to the Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC).The union has also written the Russian government and the Trade Union Recognition and Certification Board on the issue.The GB&GWU, in a statement, said that it took the action after much deliberations, and the public statements, responses and non-responses of the Minister of Labour, Manzoor Nadir; Chief Labour Officer, Yoganand Persaud and RUSAL’s BCGI General Manager,  Sergey Kostyuk.ERC ComplaintThe union, in the letter to ERC, asked for immediate redress to the case of “the predominantly African bauxite workers of Aroaima and Kwakwani employed at the Bauxite Company Guyana Inc.
