However, this is yet to come to pass.He added that requests would have been made through the Minister of Natural Resources,Cheap Jerseys From China, Raphael Trotman. The Vice-President said that though the President praises the gold and diamond industry, there has not been a one-on-one meeting with him.Alphonso added that while the GGDMA understands that the President is very busy, there are many critical matters that need to be addressed and the Head of State鈥檚 input, would aid tremendously in the advancement of the mining industry.Among some of the challenges outlined by the Vice-President, raiding topped the list. Another is the safety of miners operating in the interior. He added that the improvement of roads is vital, in order for miners to have easier access to new lands for mining operations.Alphonso stated that upgraded roads would not only benefit miners but also residents who live in those areas. He said that the association and stakeholders are aware of these safety issues and are cognizant of the increased number of fatalities and injuries in interior.The GGDMA representative said that the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) conducted a Mines Safety Symposium which will be extended to the miners. There has also been training for persons to operate machinery in the mining industry.The organisation reiterated that it will continue to address the issues and support the miners; but is seeking some consideration, since the gold and diamond mining industry is said to be the backbone of Guyana鈥檚 economy.
