A father of six was remanded to prison after pleading not guilty to two counts of robberyREMANDED:Rawle Simmonsunder-arms yesterday in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.Rawle Simmons, 31, of Herstelling,Ronnie Lott College Jersey, East Bank Demerara denied that on May 3, 2015 at Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara, whilst in the company of others and armed with a gun, he robbed Valdes Nikrahs of $100,Ryan Arcidiacono Villanova Jersey,000 cash,Kemba Walker College Jersey, three wrist watches, and a quantity of gold jewellery among other items,Cheap Villanova Wildcats Jerseys, all totalling over $1M.Simmons further denied the allegation which stated on March 3, 2016 at Diamond East Bank Demerara, while armed with a gun, he robbed Carlos Marino of a pair of boots, US$300, and a backpack among other items,Adoree Jackson USC Jersey, all totalling $218,000.Simmons who was unrepresented was remanded to prison until November 18, after Police Prosecutor Simone Payne opposed bail.Prosecutor Payne cited the seriousness, prevalence and penalty attached to the offence. She told the court that fingerprints taken from the crime scenes match those of the defendant. The prosecutor also stated that there is a likelihood the defendant may not return to stand trial if released on bail.These objections were upheld by Magistrate Fabayo Azore.Although she did not reveal any facts about the matters to the court, Prosecutor Payne stated that the case files in relation to both matters are still incomplete.According to Prosecutor Payne,Marcus Allen USC Jersey, statements from police ranks who retrieved fingerprints from the scenes are still outstanding from the case files. |
