The ex- police officer who allegedly attacked his wife on Friday night was remanded to prison, when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, at the Georgetown Magistrates Court on Tuesday.Thirty-four-year old Quacie Williams of 187 West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, was not required to plead to the indictable offense, which stated that on March 26 he unlawfully and maliciously wounded his estranged wife, Trady Williams, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Williams was unrepresented in the court Tuesday.The former police officer told the magistrate that on the day in question his wife left their home, stating that she was going for a job interview.He said that his wife came home several hours later wearing different clothes. The man said that he had called at his sister-in-law’s to find out if his wife was there but they told him that she was not there.Williams told the magistrate after his wife arrived home, they got into an argument. Police Prosecutor Stephen Telford said that bail should be denied because of the grievous injuries the woman received.The prosecutor explained that it was not the first time that Williams had appeared in court for assaulting his wife.Telford pointed out that Williams was charged last December and is on a two-year bond to keep the peace.The prosecutor further told the court that Williams armed himself with a rolling pin and attacked his wife. Telford said that the assault has Mrs Williams nursing serious injuries at the Georgetown Public Hospital.He was remanded to prison and is expected to make another court appearance April 9.
