The Rosignol family that was mourning the death of their teenage daughter, Yonette Branche, 16, who was killed in an accident on the West Berbice Public Road has been plunged into further sorrow.Yonette BrancheThe girl died when a car driven by the father crashed on Christmas Eve Day on the West Berbice Public Road.The dead girl’s father, Alfred Branche, 62, of Mackenzie Street Rosignol, West Bank Berbice, a taxi driver, was discovered around 11:00 hrs on Sunday in a trench at Cotton Tree, West Coast Berbice. He allegedly committed suicide.The man had gone missing for the past four days before he was found. He was last seen around 08:00hrs on Christmas Eve, heading into the direction of the back dam. At the time he was wearing a blue shirt, dark blue jeans and yachting shoes.Relatives had stated that since the accident the man had been inconsolable. He was crying most of the time. He had blamed himself for the accident.Relatives had made a report to the police and search parties had scoured the village for the man until he was found on Sunday.Branche was driving the wagon motor car PLL 4691, when it collided with a parked vehicle on the No. 29 Public Road,Throwback Jerseys, resulting in the death of his daughter, Yonette Branche, 16.She was a student of the New Amsterdam Multilateral School.The girl had gone with her parents to uplift a barrel and two boxes of gifts sent to the family by her aunt who lives overseas.The family was headed home when the wagon crashed.A post mortem done on Yonette Branche yesterday found that she had died from severe head injuries. |
