President of the University of Guyana Senior Staff Association (UGSSA) Dr. Patsy Francis has objected to the proposals forwarded by newly placed Vice Chancellor, Professor Jacob Opadeyi in his quest to realise “value for money.”The union president has argued that, “Professor Opadeyi has failed to lay before Council a comprehensive plan for the improvement of the University,Jerseys NFL Wholesale China,” while opining that the tertiary institution is being downgraded to a “High School of Arts and Science.”Professor Opadeyi told media operatives last week that to realise value for money, a move to have lecturers work more hours, is under consideration by the UG Administration. Professor Opadeyi is of the view that “you cannot have a full-time lecturer teaching one course in a semester and get 12 months’ salary…”Professor Jacob OpadeyiHe said that other workers across the country are required to work a certain amount of hours per week, and the University will be looking to ensure that lecturers are assigned teaching duties of at least 18 hours per week.
