One student was even in tears as she does not have any idea how she would be coming up with her tuition fees by Monday to sit her final examinations.Students were given suggestion by officials to not write the final examinations but to sign up for the supplemental examinations.Supplemental examinations are set for students who would have missed their final examinations because of emergency incidents and transportation issues.The Public Relations Division at UG declined to comment as to what would happen to the students scheduled to sit their final examinations on Monday but have not yet had their loans approved.However,Bobby Jenks White Sox Jersey, the University of Guyana Student’s Society (UGSS) President, Ron Glasgow, commented on the issue. Glasgow said that the students are not at fault here.The Loan Agency has implemented some new policies for students. First time loan applicants have to present the following documents; certified passport sized photograph; letter of acceptance from UG; student registration invoice (tuition); original and copy of birth certificate; affidavit from one guarantor; recent proof of address showing student’s name, parent’s or guardian’s name; Guyana passport information page (s) and recent travel history; TIN certificate (with copy); salary deduction/bank standing order – if employed and after consultation with SLA to determine repayment instalment; job letter/recent salary statement – if employed.Continuing loan students would have to acquire the following documents; student registration invoice (tuition); original and copy of birth certificate; affidavit from one guarantor; recent proof of address showing student’s name,Carlton Fisk White Sox Jersey, parent’s or guardian’s name; Guyana passport information page (s) and recent travel history; TIN certificate (with copy); salary deduction/bank standing order – if employed and after consultation with SLA to determine repayment instalment; job letter/recent salary statement – if employed and for the guarantors the documents required would be; evidence of employment; Guyana passport information page (s) and recent travel history; TIN certificate (with copy) and liability statement and/or credit reports from the Credit Bureau.The UGSS President explained that it has proven to be a bit difficult for persons to acquire all the required documents since first time loan applicants are students who are now just leaving high school.However, the President said that there is a meeting scheduled for Monday with the Ministry of Finance concerning the issue with the Loan Agency.He said that for students who would have to sit exams on Monday and have not been awarded their loans as yet, he suggests they negotiate with the Exams Registrar to acquire an exam pass.The office of the Exams Registrar said that the Registrar cannot issue such a pass without the payment of tuition of fees or the loan award.Many of students would have reportedly submitted their required documents to the Loan Agency before the due date which was October, 28, 2016. The students said that they are still being pushed around to receive their loan awards.
