A 19-year-old man of Lot 1 Meadow Brook Drive will be spending some time in the lock ups after he was remanded yesterday for allegedly trying to kill Dexter Richards. Desmond Mc Pherson was charged with unlawful and malicious wounding with the attempt to commit murder.The youngster was brought before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine- Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday.The court heard that on March 4, last, at Meadow Brook, Richards was at a shop purchasing some items when the defendant approached him and started pointing his finger in the man’s face.Desmond Mc Pherson alleged attempted murderThe prosecution’s facts continued that the defendant further told the victim that he was looking to get robbed. Mc Pherson subsequently pulled out a knife and stabbed Richards once to the head. McPherson thereafter made good his escape. The injured man was later taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital by persons in the area.The prosecution stated that the injured man had to undergo surgery and seek other forms of medical attention.The police, the prosecutor stated, had difficulty locating the alleged criminal. A search was conducted and the police had come close many times to arresting the man but the youngster managed to slip away.After a number of attempts the man was finally captured and taken into custody. He was subsequently charged for the offence.He was refused bail. Mc Pherson is expected back before the court on December 5. |
