By Latoya GilesTributes flowed yesterday as family and friends paid their respects to the latePall bearers prepare to move with Mr. Shaw’s casket.cultural icon, Cyril Shaw. A funeral service was held yesterday afternoon at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac. Shaw died on January 12th, in Berbice. He was 89.A lot of the tributes which were given yesterday were from persons in the music and communication fraternity. The Mighty Sparrow and local calypsonians such as Lord Canary, King Fighter Lady Guymine and many others all shared their fond memories of Shaw. A detailed prelude was delivered by Kaieteur News editor in chief Adam Harris.Harris took everyone back to Shaw’s early days. He reminded those gathered that it was Shaw who brought many international standouts to Guyana to perform“This country was a landing pad for the best in the world, and all because of Cyril Shaw.”  Harris added that Shaw’s name was a household one which was well known in entertainment promotions for over six decades.Columnist Allan Fenty, Winifred Mason and Master of ceremonies Winfield James all expressed similar sentiments to those of Mr. Harris.  Prime Minister Samuel Hinds was also in attendance yesterday. The eulogy was delivered by Shaw’s eldest daughter, Dr. Seeta Shaw.
