Denesh Ramorsad called ‘Shameer’, 18, of Kilcoy, Corentyne, who is well known to the authorities, was sentenced to a total of six years in jail on two charges of break and enter and larceny, last week.He appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh in the Albion Magistrate’s Court and was found guilty. On September 9, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Ramratty Poonai and stole three gold rings, one Plum Cell phone and a quantity of goods.The woman had secured her First Street Williamsburg, Corentyne home around 12:30 hrs and left to go for fish.Upon her return she noticed her house broken into and ransacked. Upon checking she realized that the articles were missing. Checks were made and it was later discovered that Ramorsad was seen lurking around the house earlier. Two finger rings and the phone was later found on him. He was subsequently charged.The victim later told the court that she knew the accused very well because he used to live and sleep by her.  In court the accused admitted to stealing the items found on him, but later told the court that he doesn’t know about the other items.He begged the court for a ‘lil thing’ only. He was sentenced to three years in jail.In another matter Ramorsad on September 21, last, at 286 Greenheart Street, Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, broke and entered the dwelling house of Narine Ramsammy Sundar and stole two gold chains, one gold ring, one pair earring, one bangle and $40,000 in cash.The occupants heard strange sounds emanating from within the house and awoke to confront the bandit who had gained entry by removing a few window panes. Upon being confronted by the occupants of the house, the thief pelted them with a black plastic bag he had in his possession in which were some of the items and escaped.He was subsequently caught and was sentenced to another three years in jail.The sentences will run concurrently.
