Police Constables Devin Singh and Roselle Tilbury- Douglas, who are accused of beating and baton rapingColwyn HardingColwyn Harding,D.J.Fluker Chargers Jersey, will know their fate on Friday, when Magistrate Leron Daly makes her ruling at the Providence Magistrate’s Court.Singh, of Lot 125 Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara and Tilbury-Douglas, of Alliance Road,Derek Watt Chargers Jersey, Timehri,Dexter McCoil Chargers Jersey, East Bank Demerara, were jointly charged with assaulting Harding during the period November 1 to November 13,Dion Sims Dolphins Jersey, 2013, at the Timehri Police Station, so as to cause him actual bodily harm.Devin Singh was also slapped with an additional assault charge.The duo, who has been on trial since November last,Lane Johnson Eagles Jersey, first appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on June 3, 2014 and denied the allegations.Singh was released on $200,000 bail while his colleague was granted bail in the sum of $100,000 by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.The defendants are being represented by Attorneys Glenn Hanoman and Leslie Sobers respectively.The matter was subsequently transferred to the Providence Magistrate’s Court and is being prosecuted by Police Corporal,Andre Branch Dolphins Jersey, Kerry Bostwick.Harding has alleged that a policeman at the Timehri station pushed a condom-covered baton up his anus in November 2013.Harding,Vinny Curry Eagles Jersey, who was at the time a prisoner having been remanded for allegedly assaulting the cop and resisting arrest, suffered a ruptured intestine. He subsequently underwent corrective surgery in Jamaica, even as a dispute arose as to how he had come by his injuries.Medical examinations have confirmed that a ‘foreign object’ was inserted into Harding’s anus. This was reported by the Colwyn Harding Support Group (CHSG) and lawyer for the victim,Connor Barwin Eagles Jersey, Nigel Hughes.Harding, who had filed a hefty lawsuit against the state for alleged torture and constitutional infringement,Leodis McKelvin Eagles Jersey, was freed on a violent robbery charge last year by a city Magistrate. |
