By Trevona WeekesZell Doodnauth, 48 of Grove, East Bank Demerara is seeking a kidney donor.Zell DoodnauthThe single parent mother of two has been diagnosed with kidney ailment nine years ago.Doodnauth stated that due to her disorder, she has to take treatment three times daily and three times nightly. She explained that while the dialysis can be taken at home, she is required to go to Dr. Doobay’s clinic at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) every Monday and Friday to change the dressing.Doodnauth added that once every two weeks she has to take a taxi to uplift the treatment from clinic, which is very costly.The woman said that sometimes she could hardly sleep at nights with the excessive amount of water that she discharges.Doodnauth disclosed that she has since asked her supportive family members for the kidney but was unable to get it since all of them appear to be diabetics.The distraught woman explained that it is very difficult to maintain her family since she is unable to work. She said that she usually receives financial support from her siblings. However, her 14 and 16-year old children cannot get the support that they need from her.“Sometimes I feel like I’m missing so much as a child because instead of my mother nurturing me, I have to be the one to nurture her,” Doodnauth’s 16-year old daughter stated.The woman is making a desperate appeal to kindhearted members of the public to assist her in getting a new kidney so that she will be able to stop taking the current treatment and be in the position to support her family and care for her children.
