The Guyana Police Force kicks off its anniversary with the traditional drum head service at the Tactical Services Drill Square tomorrow.The event is the first in a series of month long activities to commemorate theThe traditional route march through a section of the city will be one of the highlights of the celebrations.Force’s 176th anniversary.This will be followed by the customary Anniversary Route March, which will be held around Georgetown, commencing at 06:00 hours on Saturday.The Parade will be under the command of Assistant Commissioner Clifton Hicken who will be assisted by Senior Superintendent Whitney Bacchus.The parade will move from Police Headquarters, east into Young Street, south into Parade Street, east into Lamaha Street, south into Waterloo Street, east into Regent Street, south into Camp Street, west into Brickdam, north into Avenue of the Republic, east into Church Street, north into Camp Street, west into Young Street and back into Police Headquarters where the ranks will be addressed by the Commissioner of Police.Salutes will be taken by the Honourable Vice President and Minister of Public Security Khemraj Ramjattan, outside of the Ministry on Brickdam, and by the Commissioner of Police outside of Police Headquarters on Young Street.Other activities in commemoration of the Anniversary include: a Medical Outreach in Albouystown on Saturday July 11, 2015, commencing at 10:00 hours; an Awards Ceremony at the TSU Square, Eve Leary, on Wednesday July 15 and Scouts Day on Saturday July 18 at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary.There will also be the much anticipated Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Monument of Fallen Heroes in the Police Officers’ Mess Compound on Sunday July 19.The finals of the Police Debating Competition, which will take place on Thursday July 23 at the Police Officers’ Mess Annexe, will also be a part of the anniversary commemoration.There will also be ‘Police in Concert’ on Saturday July 25 at a venue to be finalized and a Medical Outreach at Bath, WCB, on Sunday July 26.The curtains will come down on the anniversary activities with the Force’s Annual Athletics Championships between July 28 and 31, 2015, at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary and a swimming competition on July 25 at the National Aquatic Centre, Liliendaal.
