Three knife-wielding bandits yesterday stormed the Cell Point store on Regent Road, Bourda, during a brazen robbery in the busy downtown shopping area.Reports are that the men invaded the business place around 11:15 hours.Proprietor Devenand Singh said that at the time of the robbery, two of his relatives and a cashier were in the store.The entrance to the Cell Point store which bandits targeted yesterday. He said that one of the men approached the cashier and asked to see a phone which was in the showcase. Singh said that as the cashier took the phone out of the showcase the man drew a knife and held it to her throat. He added that another man also pulled out a knife and went to lock the entrance. The persons in the store were ordered not to make any noise and to hand over all their valuables.Luckily, one of the Singh’s male relatives who was in the store’s office peeked through the glass door and saw what was going on.He then pressed the panic button which caused the bandits to flee. Throughout the ordeal a man who is believed to be an accomplice stood guard outside of the store as he told persons who tried to enter the store that it was closed.The men made good their escape with two cellular phones valued in excess of $200,000. They fled in the vicinity of the busy Bourda Market area.The matter has been reported and investigations are ongoing. The proprietor said that his losses could have been worse had it not been for the quick thinking of his relative who pressed the panic button which set off the alarm. Meanwhile, the businessman said he is frustrated over this recent incident since this is not the first time the store has been targeted by bandits.
