Justice Jo Ann Barlow yesterday admonished Stacy James to stay out of trouble at all cost after the woman was acquitted of an attempted murder charge at the Georgetown High Court, yesterday.The 12-member mixed Jury returned a unanimous not guilty verdict after a few hours of deliberation.James also faced an alternative charge of wounding with intent.   She wore an anxious expression on her face prior to the announcement of the verdict.According to the particulars of the case presented by State Prosecutors, Tuanna Layne and Tameika Clarke, James allegedly stabbed and injured Wanita Mendonca during a heated confrontation.  The incident took place at Anira Street, Queenstown, on January 21, 2007.James pleaded not guilty to the charge. She was represented by Attorney-at-Law, James Bond. According to James, she and the virtual complainant had a misunderstanding on the day of the incident.She said that the woman attacked and hit her in the head with a rolling pin but she grabbed a knife and stabbed her to the chest.Mendonca had told the court that there was some bad blood between them.  She said that she lived in the same apartment building with James some time before the altercation.At the time of the stabbing, James was 19 years old and the victim was 35.Following yesterday’s verdict, Justice Barlow told the former accused that although she is freed of the charge she must seek to avoid such confrontations at all cost.The Judge warned that is better to walk away in the face of insult than face a charge of attempted murder.“You could have been facing a murder charge.”Last week, a 25 year old man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he was found guilty by a 12-member mixed jury on a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.The sentence was handed down by Justice Jo Ann Barlow at the Georgetown High Court.  Alvin Ragobar was initially charged with attempted murder.  The alternative charge was for wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.He was convicted for wounding Nowrattan Wilmont with the intent to maim, disable or disfigure him.  The incident took place on October 3, 2007.The case was presented by State Prosecutors Shawnette Austin, Tuanna Hardy and Tomeika Clarke.  Ragobar was represented by Attorney Sonia Parag.
