GT&T will kick off the semifinals for its 2K9 Jingle and Song Competition at the Theatre Guild, commencing at 19:00 hrs today.Fifteen contestants will battle to secure a placing at the upcoming ‘final show’ that will determine the top three finalists. The finals are slated for the National Park on July 25. This year, the winner of the competition will take home a Toyota VIOS (Blue) motor car, a one year endorsement contract with GT&T, complimentary recording of a single, an Apple IPOD Touch, a Samsung Bluetooth Headset and a cellular phone.The second place winner will take home $500,000, a one-year endorsement contract with GT&T, an Apple IPOD Touch, a return trip to Jamaica and a cellular phone, while the third place contestant takes home $250,000, a return trip to Trinidad, and an Apple IPOD Touch and cellular phoneAfter the countrywide auditions were concluded, 25 persons were shortlisted for the quarterfinals at the Theatre Guild.
