Performing in front of a mammoth crowd at the Mackenzie sports Club Ground on Saturday night 17 of 21 artistes received the judges’ nod to move forward to the next round of the Carib Soca Monarch competition to be held in Berbice next Saturday.George Anthony Abrams and Shaundelle Parks doing their thingIt was the ninth edition of the annual Soca competition, sponsored by ANSA Mc Cal, and it spiked the Mash fever, which was definitely in the air.Not surprising, some patrons donned their sexiest and skimpiest outfits in anticipation of all the heat; and the “Heat Wave” band certainly upped the temperature with their ‘booty-shaking’ rhythms and sexy dancers. This segment of the show saw Lindeners being first treated to a solid half hour of hot soca songs performed by guest artistes accompanied by the band.It was the perfect introduction to a night many will not soon forget. In fact, so good was the introduction that many feared that this segment of the show might have overshadowed the artistes who were to follow. However, the Soca Monarch hopefuls were not to be outdone, and soon took to the stage where they did their thing with total abandon.Crowd favorites were Adrian Dutchin,Cheap Jerseys From China, Jonathan “Little Red” King, Ernesta Nelson, “King” Sheppard, and George (Chinee)Abrams.Of the lot, judging from the crowd response, Abrams, Dutchin and King stole their hearts.Abrams,Wholesale Jerseys, hyped by his home crowd, who invaded the area in front of the stage after his name was called,Cheap Jerseys From China, put his heart and soul into his performance,NFL Jerseys From China, but many opined that the song, though sung with much gusto, could never measure up to last year’s “Wine Attack.’Dutchin, with his usual professionalism and abandon, could be likened to a “wining’ machine, with his steamy and extraordinary gyrations. The crowd loved him.Sheppard also gave a heartwarming performance, with his “Mo Wuk Up’, but many felt this rendition fell a little short of last year’s “Wuk up Pon me”,Jerseys NFL Wholesale, which was on the lips of everyone, and had the crowd really “wukking up”.The lucky 17, making it through to the semifinals are ‘Chinee’ Abrams, of “Wine Attack’ fame, Earnesta Nelson, Quacy Edmondson, Tracy Phillips, Compton Mysterious, Shaundelle London, Jonathan “Little Red” King,Jerseys From China, Jermaine McBean, Culbert Dublin, ‘Bossman’ Stephens, Mellissa Roberts aka Vanilla, Adrian Dutchin, Ralston Ward, Quacy “Avalanche” Coates, Melissa Roberts, Jamal Gittens, Dwayne “King Shepperd” Semple, Jonathan “Lil Red” King, Colbert “Megaman” Dublin, Jermaine “Venom” Mcbean, James Stevens, Gordon Raulston King and Murphy Ward. They were judged on, lyrics, melody, diction, stage performance and crowd response.Judges were Andrew McBean, Basil Bradshaw, Lennox Canterbury, Lana Moseley, Michael James,NFL Jerseys Authentic Cheap, Oliver Basdeo and Winston Caesar (Zar) who was the Chief Judge.
