– One gunman killed, two others captured– Rural constable woundedA businessman is now dead, one of his attackers killed, another seriously wounded and another in police custody following a daring daylight robbery at Lot 18 Second Street Chateau Margot, East Coast Demerara.Around 11:00 hours today Dennis Ramah was pronounced dead at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) while a rural constable, Davenand Shymaraj was also shot during the gunmen’s escape bid.Dead: Chateau Margot Businessman Dennis RamahReports are that around 09:00 hrs today one man entered, Ramah’s business place, L n D Shopping Centre posing as a customer.This newspaper was told that the man ordered a chip from an employee and as she was attending the “customer” five other men entered the supermarket.Three of the men then held the employees at gunpoint and ordered them to lay face down on the floor while the other three went upstairs.While in the businessman’s home his wife was held at gunpoint and was ordered by one of the gunmen to hand over the cash and jewellery.The woman reportedly then directed the men to a cupboard in the kitchen.It was while in the kitchen Ramah entered the house with a cutlass and attacked one of the gunmen from behind.The gunman was chopped in his back.However one of his accomplices then shot the businessman and they fled.Reports are that a car was parked at the head of the street but only three of the six men managed to make it into the car.No valuables were taken from the business place.Police and residents were alerted and one the gunmen were shot and killed.Another in currently in police custody and a third is being treated at the GPHC under police guard.This newspaper was told that the rural constable was shot by one of the gunmen during their escape bid.More to come
