– President Ramotar promises support for similar venturesThe Doobay Renal Center, at Annadale East Coast Demerara was formally opened yesterday by His Excellency President Donald Ramotar, who promised government’s support for similar ventures.The President described the event as a very important milestone for Guyana.The Doobay Renal CenterRamotar said that he always believes in the philosophy that when doing something it must always be in service of the people. The Head of State said that this can be reflected in the budget from 1992 to present. He said that Guyana is probably one of the only countries in the region which spends about 30 percent of the budget on social services.“It goes to meet the needs of people. This includes health care, housing and water,” the president told the large gathering.
