Given their efforts to alleviate unemployment among the youth in communities along their district, police officers of ‘D’ Division have found jobs for eighteen (18) young men living between Stewartville and Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara, (WCD) under their social inclusion project, C-Pets.Beneficiaries of the C-Pets flanked by Assistant Commissioner of Police Marlon Chapman (left) and Deputy Commander D Division, Stephen Mansell.C- Pets, which was launched last year, is the brainchild of “D” Division Commander,Authentic Dwyane Wade Bulls Jersey, Ian Amsterdam.The project is part of a strategic plan to encourage communities, faith-based organizations,Kemba Walker Hornets Jersey, police and residents to build closer relationships with each other, in an effort to reduce drugs and alcohol abuse among citizens, promote sports, culture,Jimmy Butler Bulls Swingman Jersey, entertainment and youth empowerment.The initiative is also a collaborative effort between faith-based organisations, government agencies,Tobias Harris Pistons Jersey, business organizations, as well as a number of Non Governmental Organizations, (NGOs) and stakeholders.Given this linkage with the business community,Michael Jordan USA Jersey, the ‘D’ Division Police, under this project, have afforded youths in the district,Marcus Morris Pistons Jersey, opportunities for employment.According to Deputy Commander of Police ‘D’ Division, Stephen Mansell, the programme caters for young persons,Magic Johnson USA Jersey, particularly men, between ages of 18-25 years.Mansell explained that men would be attached to companies as trainees and at the end of six months, they have the opportunity of becoming permanent employees, once vacancies exist.He said that to date, twenty-six (26) persons have gained employment under the initiative geared at getting youths off the streets and empowering them.In this instance, the Deputy Commander explained that 18 youths have been employed by Kares Engineering,Chris Paul USA Jersey, of Windsor Forest, WCD, where they will up to earn $40,000 monthly.Today, Mansell is scheduled to engage a further 75 youths from Stewartville,Andre Drummond Pistons Jersey, Uitvlugt, Zeeburg, De Willem and Meten Meer Zorg with the aim of providing jobs.Project C-Pets was launched on July 10, 2014, and has since been touted as one of the reasons for crime reduction in the region. |
