Simone Baburam learned yesterday afternoon what it is like to narrowly escape death when a rotting utility pole came crashing down on her car as she stood near it.The incident occurred at around 13:30 hrs in front of the Lot 320 East Street home of Baburam’s in-laws,Branden Albert Dolphins Jersey, who had been pleading for two years with the Guyana Power & Light Inc. (GPL) to remove the same pole.A shaken Simone Baburam told Kaieteur News that she and her husband had visited her mother-in law earlier in the day.They then left (at around 13:30 hrs) and Baburam was shutting the gate when she heard a “cracking sound”.“Just as I turned around,Casey Hayward Chargers Jersey, I saw the wires and the pole coming down.”The pole then crashed onto the bonnet of her car,Donnie Jones Eagles Jersey, missing her by just a few feet.The East Bank Demerara resident recalled that she was so terrified that she remained at the same spot for several seconds.
