Up to late yesterday afternoon, ranks from the Police Narcotics Unit were still waiting to see if a Guyanese national would excrete any more cocaine pellets that he had ingested.The man was placed under guard at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was detained at the Ogle International Airport with a quantity of the drug, yesterday morning.Police did not give the name of the mule but stated in a press release that about 05:30 hours yesterday, ranks at the Police Narcotics Branch arrested a Guyanese national, who was an outgoing passenger at the Ogle Airport, after 518 grams of cocaine were found concealed in his underclothes.Realising that he would be detained and would not reach his destination on time, the man “spilled his guts”. He told narcotics ranks that he had ingested cocaine.He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where medical personnel administered medication to help him excrete the drug.Police in a further statement yesterday afternoon said that a number of pellets with a total weight of 62 grams of cocaine have been retrieved.The man is still under guard at the GPHC. |
