Equipped with all the high tech games that many of have only seen on television, the management of the Princess International Hotel and Casino yesterday opened to the public, ‘Fun City’.The ribbon cutting ceremony.The US$2M facility has some of the latest video games and other gaming equipment. The complex which sits just above the casino is comparable to none, here in Guyana.Entrance is free, and persons will be able to purchase tokens for $100 each. Each purchased token would then be electronically attached to a chit, and would gain the holder access to any of the available game units, provided the purchased tokens suffice.Persons from as young as three years old to as mature as 77 years of age can have access to the gaming equipment.The facility was declared open yesterday afternoon following a simple ceremony which saw the cutting of the ribbon by the General Manager, Eray Kanmaz and Minister of Culture Youth and Sports, Dr. Frank Anthony.According to both the Minister, and Chairman of the Private Sector Commission, Clinton Urling, the arcade will prove to be tremendously beneficial for Guyanese.When asked, Dr Anthony said that he does not believe that the arcade would take away from traditional sports, but rather improve family life.A view of the arcade ‘Fun City’The Manager told reporters that while similar ventures would see profits within a year’s time, one such investment in Guyana would pay off in about 10 years. The prices are on par and in some instances, less than international charges.“Something like this in my country we would make back the investment in one year. However, we are not looking for that, we are here for the long term investment….We took the country’s economy into context when making charges. This is a social project.”The complex seeks to offer mostly family-oriented fun. The arcade comes alongside a very exciting 7D cinema which can be accessed at $500 per person.It accommodates about six persons at once, and is equipped with thrilling special effects and spectacular footage in a short ride whilst buckled up in the Enhanced 7D simulator.Some of these footages include a frightening roller coaster ride, a ride on the great wall of China in a TukTuk, a scuba diving scene through the amazing underwater world, or the risk takers among us can try the a scene of scary creatures on a bloody road. These scenes are not set; you just pay the fare, go in, and choose your preferred movie, sit back, and enjoy the right, providedOne of the many games that can be enjoyed at Fun Cityyou don’t get too scared so as to cry.The hotel also has a state of the art theatre which was also recently opened, and has an attached entry price of $1,500 for adult and $1,000 per child.Plus there is also the NEXT night club, and a hangout deck.
