A Surinamese national has been confirmed dead and a Guyanese badly woundedOne of the boats involved in the shootout.following a shooting incident early Sunday morning in the Corentyne close to the Suriname mainland.The dead Surinamese, who is said to be in his thirties,Nathan MacKinnon Team North America Jersey, has been identified as Amjit Jhinoe, while the wounded Guyanese is listed as Troy Nelson.Nelson,Scott Darling Jersey, who reportedly was shot several times,Stan Mikita Jersey, is said to be in a Suriname hospital under guard.There are reports that another Guyanese man is missing and late last night there were rumours that another body had washed up at Crabwood Creek. The Surinamese gang members with their dead colleagues sped away back to their homeland.Word of the shooting reached the ears of law enforcement officials on both sides of the border and according to reports,Brent Seabrook Jersey, the Surinamese authorities eventually took possession of the drifting boat with the badly wounded Nelson inside.His exact condition is not too clear but there are reports that he has contacted relatives back home. Sources described Nelson as a well known convict who was only released from prison last year after serving a lengthy sentence.The mastermind ‘Bird’ is said to have survived the assault but has not been accounted for as yet.Meanwhile, police on the Guyana side held several raids on a few Corriverton residences on Sunday morning.“They break down [the] door of a Corriverton man’s home, but they didn’t find anything,” another source revealed. |
