It is one week now since the National Grade Six Assessment results were published. There was much celebration from the students who were placed at the top schools. The public can be assured that these schools are given the same inputs in terms of resources as the top six schools.The Ministry of Education is not content only to provide a place in a secondary school for each child but has gone further  to ensure that those students who do not obtain high scores at the Examinations are equipped to access the Secondary School Curriculum. The schools where these students are placed are implementing a six-year programme instead of a five-year programme.In the first of the six years,NHL Throwback Jerseys, students are given an opportunity to bridge the gaps in their learning through the six-year transitional Curriculum which uses a student centered approach to learning. This curriculum allots 75 per cent of its time to Literacy and Numeracy in order to ensure that students acquire basic Literacy and Numeracy skills that will aid them in accessing the Secondary Curriculum. The Ministry is well aware of its obligations towards all the children of Guyana regardless of where they may fall on the learning continuum and its efforts at ensuring that everyone along this continuum is catered for should not go unnoticed but should be celebrated.The Ministry of Education should also celebrate because it has published the National Grade Six Assessment Results in record time. This is surely an indication of efficient management. All Guyana should celebrate because the top 1 % students came from various backgrounds signifying that there is equity in the Education System.
