Recognizing the importance of putting an end to the high percentage of women being diagnosed with breast cancer, a newly formed cancer organization will be offering free mammograms to underprivileged women countrywide.The organization will be partnering with several businesses to have the mammograms done at the Cancer Institute of Guyana at reduced prices.A mammogram is an X-ray examination of the breast. It is used to detect and diagnose breast disease in women.Every year, dozens of women are diagnosed with breast cancer across the country. Some of whom eventually die.The month of October is dedicated annually to raising awareness of the deadly disease.Each year, Non-Governmental Organizations and other institutions would normally team up to spread awareness throughout the country.In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the cancer organization will ensure four uninsured and low-income women receive a free examination at the Cancer Institution of Guyana.
