Residents of Kaneville, East Bank Demerara have expressed their frustration with some officials at the Ministry of Housing, whom they noted have failed to effectively respond to their dilemma as it relates to the construction of a house on the main access road in the community.On Monday, some of the residents met with officials from the Central Planning and Housing Authority, who had promised to look into the matter by sending officers to the area to assess the situation, but as of yesterday, the residents reported that no one has thus far visited the area, and numerous calls made to the Ministry by the residents in order to find out the facts of the matter proved futile.Residents of the area, and one of the representatives of the community, Polson Henry, noted that villagers are becoming ‘fed up’ with the situation, because two more shacks have been constructed on the road in the area.He explained to this newspaper that some of the residents are now contemplating dismantling the structures, but he has since discouraged them from doing that since it would only serve to make them the ‘accused’.The only road in the community, which residents and school children can access in order to get around to their day to day activities. According to Henry, villagers are of the view that there is something ‘fishy’ going on with the officials from the Housing Ministry, as it is strange for the officials to promise to visit the area, and until now, that has not been done.
