A 74-year-old re-migrant from the United States of America is expressing frustration over what he describes as the royal runaround to clear a container of his personal belongings from a local wharf.Haniff Sattaur, who has been living in the United States for the past 24 years, decided that he had had enough of his adopted country and heeded the call to return to his homeland to spend his last days, thinking that all will be well.A frustrated Saheed SattaurHowever he did not cater for the red tape that he is currently facing.Although he has satisfied all the conditions for his remigrant status, his container with personal belongings, including his two vehicles,Cameron Maybin Jersey, has been lying at a city wharf for the past three weeks, saddling Sattaur with a US$45 per day storage fee.Sattaur’s son,Minnesota Twins Ryan Vogelsong Jersey, Saheed, himself a re-migrant, said that for weeks he has been trying to get officials of the Guyana Revenue Authority to process his documents so that the container could be cleared without him having to expend unnecessary money on storage.He said that in addition to the storage costs, he is losing the perishables stored in the container.Saheed, a certified contractor,Martin Maldonado Jersey, who was given the power of attorney for his father, said that he had no problems when he re-migrated.“All of us are coming down back to Guyana; all my sisters but if they hear this, they might not want to come. I am a licenced contractor in the United States and I want to set up here. I cleared all my stuff in no time,” Saheed Sattaur told this newspaper.But the issue with his father is most frustrating.From all appearances the Guyana Revenue Authority officials have reservations over the type of vehicle that the re-migrant wants to bring into Guyana.Kaieteur News has seen documents that the re-migrant is the owner of the popular ‘Hummer’, which he shipped to Guyana with the intention of using here.“They asked him, they want to have an interview with him,R.A.
