Dennis Rampersaud was yesterday denied his pretrial liberty when he made his first court appearance before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.He pleaded not guilty to being in possession of a .32 pistol and matching ammunition,Travis Benjamin Chargers Jersey, and to threatening Shaliza Mohamed on November 21.Rampersaud was represented by attorney-at-law James Bond,Brian Dawkins Eagles Jersey, who, in a bid to secure bail for his client,Fletcher Cox Eagles Jersey, told the court that,Walt Aikens Dolphins Jersey, “Rampersaud is totally unconnected to the crime”.He added that a police rank was in the car with his client, but that rank has not being arrested or charged.Bond said the “items” were never found in his client’s possession.The “gun” was found in the vehicle,Chris Culliver Dolphins Jersey, and Rampersaud was not present when the police carried out that search, the lawyer said.However, police prosecutor Desiree Fowler said that, after the defendant had alleged that he was robbed,Kenny Stills Dolphins Jersey, he went to the home of Shaliza Mohamed and brandished what appeared to be a “gun”.He then instructed Mohamed to tell her brother that he should return “the items which was stolen from him.”According to the prosecutor, when Rampersaud left,Cameron Wake Dolphins Jersey, Mohamed went to the East Ruimveldt Police Outpost to make a report.It was whilst she was making the report that the she saw the defendant also in the process of making a report.She took the opportunity to point out Rampersaud to the police,Andrew Franks Dolphins Jersey, who searched his person and later found the weapon in the vehicle.She added that the defendant was present when the search was carried out.
