Chandisingh, Rose Hall Primary, and Port Mourant Primary SchoolsThe activity was done in collaboration with the Department of Education.Chief Executive Officer of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, Hilbert Foster, explained that the participants were selected from the Lower Corentyne area.The Science Fair was held, two Fridays ago, as part of activities for Education Month.Four secondary schools vied for supremacy at the Science Fair — Corentyne Comprehensive High School, Lower Corentyne, Port Mourant, and J.C. Chandisingh Secondary Schools.These met head-to-head at the semi-finals, where the Rose Hall Town and Port Mourant Primary Schools also clashed at the junior level.The institutions were given three topics to choose from — Alternative Energy, Grow More Food, and The Effects of Climate Change.The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club had earlier donated items to the respective schools. These articles were to be used to raise funds so that the schools can acquire the necessary material for their chosen project.At the lower level, Rose Hall Town Primary School walked away with the first place win, with the Port Mourant Primary tailing.Corentyne Comprehensive High School stomped the J.C. Chandisingh Secondary School and stole the first place. Though the competition was close, the outcome was based on the presentation, explanations and team work.The students of the Corentyne Comprehensive were categorically clear with their explanations; they were to the point, and their effort was a joint one. The J.C. Chandisingh Secondary was deemed way too long in their presentation, a lot confusing,Deion Sanders Falcons Jersey UK, and their team work was somewhat lacking.Corentyne Comprehensive students chose Vermicompost as the title for their exhibit. Verm, they explained, is the Latin word for worm, and they defined composting as the aerobic decomposition of biodegradable organic matter.Vverimcomposting, the children explained,Randall Cobb Packers Jersey UK, contains 1.2 to 1.6 percent more nitrogen, 1.8 to 2 percent more phosphate, and .5 percent to .75 percent more potassium, compared to farm yard manure. The Lower Corentyne and Port Mourant Secondary Schools were declared the joint third-place winners. The J.C. Chandisingh Secondary and the Port Mourant Secondary Schools selected alternative energy, while the Lower Corentyne chose the Grow More Food, and so did both primary schools.Mr. Foster saluted the teachers and students who took part in the Science Fair. “There are some outstanding young scientists in our midst. Sadly, however, all of you could not be winners, and therefore the job of selecting the best was left to our three judges.”The judges were Gregory Butcher, a social worker; Nazima Deonarine, an employee of Metro; and Franklyn Ross,Louis Lipps Steelers Jersey UK, a Guyana Sugar Corporation employee.The judges used guidelines, such as originality, the extent to which the contestants stuck to the topic,Logan Ryan Patriots Jersey UK, presentation, team work, and explanation.The club presented tangible rewards to all participants and their respective schools for their efforts.
