The Bagotville Cultural Circle will continue to make its contributions to Emancipation celebrations when it hosts its annual Emancipation cultural activities.The activities,Jordan Cameron Dolphins Jersey, which are slated to last a total of nine days,Matt Moore Dolphins Jersey, will commence this Friday, July 24 and will run right up to Emancipation Day, August 1.According to Vice Chairman Kinisani Adams, the group’s contribution has been a staple for Emancipation celebrations for years. She said too that this year the activities will be bigger and better and have been extended beyond just one day.According to Adams, special attention was paid to ensuring that the activities appealed to a cross-section of people, including children and the elderly. All of the planned activities will take place at the Bagotville Community Centre,Manti Teo Chargers Jersey, West Bank Demerara.The activities will kick off on July 24 with a joint African Parade. The parade will commence at 3:30pm at Vreed-en-Hoop before proceeding to inner Bagotville and finally to the community centre.The Bagotville Cultural Circle takes part each year in Emancipation celebrationsSaturday, July 25 is expected to be a day of excitement with the hosting of the family fun day,Spencer Paysinger Dolphins Jersey, metem-gee competition and the plaiting of the Maypole while Sunday will cater more to the children with a Spelling Bee competition. Furthermore,Dan Marino Dolphins Jersey, Sunday will also see the distribution of school supplies to children in the community. Adams explained that the group will visit five schools in the environs and award top grade six students. Sunday’s activities will conclude with a contribution from the Joint Services.On Monday, Attorney-at-Law Nigel Hughes, Onasis Granville and Director of the African Cultural and Development Association (ACDA) Eric Phillips will take the podium during a symposium while Tuesday will be a night of historical reflection, fashion and spirituality.But the fun doesn’t stop there. On Wednesday, there will be a video show,Josh Huff Eagles Jersey, then on Thursday the elderly will receive hampers, pampering and free lunches. Friday will see a night of culture, food and drumming.Finally,Kenjon Barner Eagles Jersey, on Emancipation Day there will be a day of sports including relay,Melvin Gordon Chargers Jersey, sprint,Marcus Smith Eagles Jersey, swimming, konkie eating and tug-o-war.Adams emphasised that the events will not only be clean fun for the entire family but will also provide insight into African history. She also urged all persons to turn out in their numbers to celebrate.This year, Guyana will join in the 177th Emancipation Day or Freedom Day celebrations. |
