Minister within the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development,Brian Dawkins Eagles Jersey, Norman Whittaker,Jason Taylor Dolphins Jersey, on Friday officially handed over the GYD$83M Mahaica market to the area’s Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC).The newly constructed Mahaica Market.At the official ribbon cutting ceremony were Region Four Chairman,Bill Bates Cowboys Jersey, Clement Corlette,Harry Carson Giants Jersey, and other Local Government officials including Chairperson of the Unity/Vereeniging NDC Chairperson,Jim Brown Browns Jersey, Anoopwattie Veeren and vendors.Minister Whittaker,Jim Plunkett Raiders Jersey, according to a Government statement, told the gathering that the market was another example of Government’s support to bring order to the manner in which people vend and to provide healthy, safe and hygienic conditions for buyers and sellers.The Minister challenged the appointed Market Committee which comprises vendors, and NDC,Jerome Brown Eagles Jersey, RDC and Local Government Ministry officials, to work along with the vendors to optimise the use of the market by encouraging them to vend within its boundaries and off the road sides. He further emphasised the need for accountability with respect to the earnings realised from the use of the facilities.The market which was constructed by Dookie Contracting Services,Larry Allen Cowboys Jersey, complete with washrooms and water supply facilities,Shannon Sharpe Broncos Jersey, can accommodate 120 stalls of dimension eight feet by 8 feet on its ground floor with staffing facilities and meeting room on the top floor.Corlette commended Government for financing the project and urged the vendors to utilise and to care the facility.
