The family of a 52-year-old gold miner was plunged into a state of shock on the discovery of his lifeless body in the Atlantic Ocean near the Kitty Seawall. The body of Ramesh Ramdeen of Shell Road,Throwback Jerseys, Kitty, Georgetown was fished out of the waters just after noon yesterday.Kaieteur News understands that Ramdeen left his friend, Prakash to follow some people to catch crab. The friend recalled that that the now dead man left him around 12:00hrs after indicating that he wanted to go and take a swim. Prakash pointed out that he his friend would normally imbibe in alcohol, but yesterday he was sober when he left to go to the seawall.An hour later a young boy saw Ramdeen encountering difficulties in the water, about 200 meters out, and raised an alarm.By the time help arrived, Ramdeen was already unconscious and appeared dead.Curious onlookers hurry to get a glimpse of Ramdeen’s body as it was being removed by undertakersRamesh RamdeenHis body was pulled to the seawall where it remained until it was taken away by workers from the Lyken Funeral Parlour.A brother of the deceased, Richard Ramdeen, related that he was at home when he got the message that his brother’s body was found floating in the ocean. He said that he was told that a young boy spotted the body alerted others.According to him, when he arrived on the scene the body was partly submerged. He said that he was told that his brother was out swimming with some other guys.He related that his brother began frothing when his body was brought to shore.Richard explained that his brother’s demise came as a shock because he does not usually go to there to swim.He said that his brother was a good swimmer when he was younger but he recently began consuming alcohol regularly.The family has already ruled out suicide claiming that Ramesh Ramdeen was a very happy and strong man.Curious onlookers gathered as news spread of the discovery.A post mortem examination will be conducted on the body this week. |
