…IMC Chairman queries slothWith the demand for credit in Region Ten exceeding $1 billion, Interim Management Committee Chairman, Orrin Gordon, has expressed total dissatisfaction with the present state of affairs regarding the Linden Enterprise Network” (LEN) which is now functioning in place of its predecessor LEAP (The Linden Economic Advancement Programme), and was expected to have begun extending loans to Lindeners by now.Gordon said that LEN should have already been in a position to ‘lend’ in order to facilitate new businesses in the Region, and help consolidate existing ones.“LEN cannot exist on rental fees alone, as is presently happening, the entity has to start lending and earning, but this is not happening; I don’t know why all the procrastination, if one can call it that- why the delay in getting things up and running,” Gordon stated.Gordon pointed out that months after LEAPS ‘departure’, there has been no movement or progress on LEN’s part, as no decision has yet been made regarding the latter’s real function.Assets from both LEAF and LEAP have also not yet been transferred to LEN according to Gordon.Even the $50 million which was transferred from Caricom Insurance to the Government, and should have been injected into LEN, is ‘languishing’ instead of working for the people of Linden.Gordon posited that should the $50 million be injected into LEN,Marlon Humphrey Jersey, the entity would be in a stronger position, than it presently finds itself in. (which is running on rental fees).The IMC Chairman stressed that the present state of affairs is not healthy for the community.
