The word ecstatic may not be enough to describe the reaction of the candidates who are among the most outstanding performers at the 2009 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Examination.The results were unveiled on Friday by the Education Ministry and positioned at the top of the preliminary list provided to media houses were Kia Persaud and Padminee Roshundatt with 14 grade ones.Persaud, a student of Queen’s College (QC) was unavailable when this newspaper sought to have a comment from her, and according to her classmates she is on vacation overseas. However, a photograph of her was forwarded to this newspaper in hope that her excellent performance would be duly recognised.Kia PersaudPadminee RoshundattSixteen-year-old Padminee Roshundatt, another QC student, said that she was elated when she learnt that she is among the top candidates of the CSEC examination this year. The resident of 93 Hand-en-Veldt, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, said that though she is excited with the result, she is now able to breathe a sigh of relief. She attributes her success to all of her teachers, especially Navindradat Hardial (Chemistry), her parents Khrisna and Indro Roshundatt, as well as her older brother, former Capital News Reporter, Davendra Roshundatt, and her little sister Sharda who kept her company most of the nights she got up to study. Padiminee plans on continuing at QC to undertake the ‘A’ Level exams.Roberta FergusonThe overjoyed teen told Kaieteur News that being a part of this year’s leading performers comes as a result of years of hard work. She said that she would normally practice with past CXC papers which helped her to get a feel of what the real exams would have been like.Roberta said that she would be pursuing a career in Accountancy and disclosed that come October she would be enrolling to begin the CAT and ACCA programmes. After that Ferguson said that she would be applying to the University of Guyana to complete a degree in Banking and Finance. always knew that she would have done well. She also expressed utter shock when she first learnt of her accomplishment. The 79 Seaforth and Pike Street, Kitty, resident said that she credits God for helping her as well as all of her teachers. Her parents, Susan Ramcharran and Sujit Sase Narine were also recognised for their sterling efforts.She plans on continuing her studies at QC in order to write her ‘A’ Levels examination before contemplating another academic move.For high achiever Tajram Dhanraj, news of having scored 11 Grade Ones and two Grade Twos, was like an advance gift for his 17th birthday, which he celebrated yesterday. After writing the Common Entrance Examination, he achieved the second highest marks for his school – the Crabwood Creek Primary and was awarded a place at New Amsterdam Multilateral. He was subsequently transferred to J. C. Chandisingh. But it was during the last term of fourth form that Joshua started being more focused on his studies.Rajiv Nandalall Pixs named as individual students in Folder named CSEC in Sunday, a shy 16-year-old from Best Village, West Coast Demerara, has also been able to claim his place as one of the country’s top students. A student of the recently commissioned Saraswati Vidya Nikitan school at Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara, Rajiv chalked up 11 Grade Ones. He was pleased to learn of his excellent performance, but said he wasn’t surprised, because he was motivated to excel by his teachers and fellow students. Rajiv spent the first two years of his secondary school career at Marian Academy, but moved to the Saraswati Vidya Niketa, a Hindu religious school, upon the urgings of his grandfather who is a close friend of the school’s principal, Swami Akshranandan.  of Belvedere Settlement on the Corentyne has secured 11 grade one passes. The J.C. Chandisingh Secondary School student said the results came as no surprise since it was a typical ‘reap what you sow’ story. has always been a high achiever throughout school, but nothing could really prepare him for the news that he was among the country’s top performers. He was simply astounded when Kaieteur News informed him that he had secured 11 Grade Ones and one Grade Two. From Long Pond, Sisters Village, West Bank Demerara, Jaikeshan has made his school,Jerseys NFL Cheap, the West Demerara Secondary School, very proud of him. While he has always performed well in academics, earning a distinction in Mathematics while in Form Four, the 16-year-old was part of his school’s debating team and also took part in chess competitions.  said that she was overwhelmed on Friday when she was contacted by this newspaper about her performance. With 11 grade ones and two grade twos, the lass said that she did not expect to do that well but knew that she had the ability to be a high achiever. According to Tiffany, she was the second best performer when she participated in the National Grade Nine Assessment. The 921 Section ‘A’, Block X, Great Diamond, resident said that she is thankful to her teachers,Andrew Desjardins Jersey, particularly, English teacher, Ms Ingrid Fung, and her parents Dane and Andrea Clementson for helping her along. She plans on doing her ‘A’ Levels at QC, which she opines is the best option right now.
