He did not feature as a speaker during the programme.Instead,Deion Sanders Falcons Jersey, former Finance Minister Carl Greenidge, who ran against Granger for the Presidential Candidate nomination in the PNCR,Cheap Jerseys From China, articulated the platform of APNU.The other parties in the partnership are the Working People’s Alliance (WPA) – which holds a Parliamentary seat with the now defunct Rise Organise and Rebuild party – and the National Front Alliance which has never gained any firm political grounding.Dr Rupert Roopnarine, a political heavyweight for the WPA, which owes of its legacy to assassinated political activist and historian Dr Walter Rodney,Marlon Humphrey Jersey, said APNU was not a political party but a movement that has as its priority national reconciliation.He said that the APNU differs from all other coalitions in the country’s history as it represents an open partnership that is genuinely inclusive.He said that the APNU was wider and more diverse when it was first announced, and is still seeking to bring in others to strengthen its ranks.Dr Roopnarine said that real development in Guyana has been stifled by racial divisions.He therefore issued a clarion call for members of all sectors of society to join the APNU to unseat the PPP/C government, and to remove governance that excludes those who did not support the party with a majority of electoral votes.APNU outlined what it said were varied and deeply complex defects in society that were brought on by a “winner-take-all-politics” and “one party rule.”The Partnership said that some of the societal afflictions are so long standing that Guyana often take them for granted as part and parcel of “the soiled landscape of our lives.”As outlined by Greenidge, APNU said it would reconvene the Constitutional Reform Commission to devise a constitution that provides for the separation of powers, checks and balances, accountability and all that provisions that people need.Among the constitutional reforms the APNU said it would look to introduce if it gets into power is the separation of the functions of the Head of State (the President) from those of the Head of Government (Prime Minister) and the reform of the National Assembly, including the use of a “qualified weighted majority” for the passage of specific legislation.Granger described the launch of the partnership as the “birthday” of new politics in Guyana, suggesting that the incumbent PPP/C is running the nation as if it is a “plantation.”
