The Alliance for Change (AFC) yesterday lamented what it called the government’s neglect of the Yarrowkabra Housing Scheme and its residents. In its weekly press briefing yesterday, the party’s Prime Ministerial Candidate,Deion Jones Falcons Jersey, Sheila Holder, highlighted the plight of the residents of the housing area which was once said to be part of the government’s push to relocate further inland.According to Holder,Throwback Jerseys, a significant proportion of the residents of the Yarrowkabra Housing Scheme are without electricity,Deion Sanders Falcons Jersey, phones or even paved streets. The residents are presently without a primary school even though one has long been promised and children are currently forced to brave the dangerous highway to get to schools in the neighbouring communities.Executive Member of the AFC and Councilor for Region Four, Michael Carrington,NFL Jerseys From China, made an impassioned plea for the people of the area saying that the last time the community saw any sort of official attention was in 2006,Brad Richards Red Wings Jersey, another election year, when the President himself visited. Carrington pointed out that there are no lights on the highway stretch from the highway junction all the way to Linden making a trek on that highway a literal life and death encounter. He spoke of the many social problems in the community and called for Government intervention in the area to bring some much needed assistance to the people. The party also chose to respond to comments made by David Granger who said that a recent article in this newspaper that “The AFC lacks popular support … So the question must be asked: If you are not in it to win it,Andre Branch Dolphins Jersey, then why are you in it?”The party responded by saying that it is “in it” to serve as an alternative to the “destructive and racial politics of the PPP and the PNC”.Ms Holder pointed that the unity that would be cultivated by the political culture the AFC would promote were the party to win would see ethnic differences at the political level subsumed and not accentuated. |
