The Rotary Club of New Amsterdam and the East Canje Lions Club showed just how things must be done when they jointly hosted a Christmas party for children in the East Canje area last Sunday.The party was held at the Rose Hall Estate Guest house in East Canje.Over 200 kids were treated to a grand occasion,Phil Niekro Braves Throwback Jersey, with Santa Claus in attendance,Mike Singletary Bears Throwback Jersey, as the members of the two service organisations including doctors,Cleveland Cavaliers Throwback Jersey, magistrates,Paul Hornung Packers Throwback Jersey, lawyers,Jim Brown Browns Throwback Jersey, managers, engineers and businessmen and their spouses put aside their busy schedules,MLB Throwback Jerseys, and mingled with the less fortunate to make sure that they had a wonderful time, complete with smiles, befitting of the season.The children were served with goodies of all kinds and presented with gifts as well as enjoying a hot meal.Speaking to the media,Richard Dent Bears Throwback Jersey, Rotary President Magistrate Chandra Sohan said that it was a joint project and they decided to do it that way to have more impact,Anthony Munoz Bengals Throwback Jersey, in that it will reach more people.Vice President of the East Canje Lions club, businessman Davendra Sookraj said that the fact that two service organisations could come together and look after the needs of children and the needy shows that positive things can happen in Guyana. This was a sentiment echoed by Magistrate Sohan.Sookraj said that Christmas is a time of giving and many children look forward to something for the season. Many are needy and may not have parents or their parents may not be in a position to provide for them. Sookraj said that this is the first year that the East Canje Lions is being involved in an end of year children party and plans to make it an annual venture.Magistrate Sohan explained that this is an annual venture for the Rotary club and they decided to do it differently this year. In addition to joining with the Lions,Bart Starr Packers Throwback Jersey, they decided to “move away from the usual New Amsterdam setting” and use a different location, something which he hopes will continue.“As service organisations we have to serve the public and this is one way in doing so; we must give back to the public. There is no better way in serving the public than helping children, especially those that are in need,” the President said.The New Amsterdam Rotary Club has been in existence since 1987, while the East Canje Lions Club recently celebrated its 30th year in existence.
