More than 50 New Amsterdam residents yesterday picketed the regional headquarters of the People’s Progressive party( PPP), Guyana Power and Light(GPL) and the Region Six Administration to press their demand for electricity and what they call an end to favouritism,Andre Branch Dolphins Jersey, skullduggery and racism.The people alleged that these entities are guilty of the accusations.The people came mainly from Angoys Avenue, Smythfield and Mount Sinai. They have been venting their concerns for the past six weeks and have been coming out in small numbers.  On Thursday they decided to up the ante and protest in front the GPL,  PPP and Regional Administration offices in New Amsterdam, because of what they said was blatant disrespect and favouritism.The favouritism charge was prompted by the distribution of electricity to only some residents in the Angoy’s Avenue, Smythfield and Glasgow Housing scheme areas.The main bone of contention for the latest picketing exercise was that although telling them that they must have transported property before they could be connected to the GPL network a number of persons said to be associated with the ruling party and the regional Administration have been connected to the national grid.On Thursday one of the protesters photographed a house and the GPL prepaid meter which was connected a few hours after the building was constructed. This individual was a friend of the Regional Chairman.
