The recently concluded Regional and General Elections as well as that which was conducted three years ago,Dennis Rasmussen Jersey, was perhaps the most interesting yet in Guyana’s history. For one,Kyle Brodziak Jersey, the 2011 elections was one in which the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) was the first ever to form a minority government. As the combined opposition of the then separated A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) and Alliance for Change (AFC) held one seat more than the PPP/C,Patrick Kane Jersey, the common feature of Parliamentary sittings had been the constant tit-for-tat over the nation’s administration. The country’s tenth Parliament did not last its five-year life as the threat of a No-Confidence Motion against the PPP/C government led former President Donald Ramotar to prorogue it.Later,Pavol Demitra Jersey, the Opposition forces,David Rundblad Jersey, APNU and AFC,Antti Niemi Jersey, joined together to form a coalition and successfully challenged the 23-year rule of the PPP/C in the last elections. With both parties busy promoting their ideas of development,Artem Anisimov Jersey, the campaign trail of the 2015 elections was one which saw politicians repeatedly emphasizing “every vote counts” and with the results of these elections,Troy Brouwer Jersey, it was clear why that would have been.On May 11, last,Brian Sutter Jersey, Guyanese turned out in their numbers and the recent results saw both parties gaining more voted than the last.
